I’m Dr. Julia Bishop, a teacher, writer, and Renaissance history researcher with a particular interest in Leonardo da Vinci and the people, politics, and ideas that shaped his world.

Renaissance Tea is where I share clear, well-researched stories about Renaissance art, science, engineering, and power—without the myths, exaggerations, or textbook dust.

I’m also writing Changing Course, a historical novel set during Leonardo da Vinci and Niccolò Machiavelli’s attempt to divert the Arno River in 1503.

My goal is simple: make Renaissance history accurate, readable, and genuinely interesting.
